When attending your first Bikram Yoga class at Bikram Yoga Oakville it is important to remember the following. Please come to class at least 15 minutes early. Come well hydrated and bring a yoga mat, 2 litres of water and 2 towels. One of the towels to place over your mat during class and the other towel to have for a shower after class. If you do not have a yoga mat we rent them, we also sell bottled water. Suggested wear for the class is shorts and a t shirt. Women are welcome to wear sports bras and shorts or yoga pants. Men can wear yoga shorts or Speedos. It is a good idea to start at the back of the room so that a new student can see other yoga students in front of them so that they can follow with the class. The teachers are in the class to help you achieve an accurate posture and help you avoid any confusion with clear concise instruction. At Bikram Yoga Oakville we want your practice to be a pleasant one and at first the heat of the room and the postures can be overwhelming. We are here to help you find a balance within your practice so that you can achieve proper form in your practice. Bikram yoga is a yoga practice not yoga perfect. A benefit of the practice is that as long as you have the correct form you will receive 100% of the benefits, however if you sacrifice from for depth you will also lose the benefits. One thing to keep in mind is that the breathing comes first. In and out through the nose. As long as you have the proper breathing you will be fine. Once a yoga student begins breathing in and out through the mouth that causes the body to go into a fight or flight syndrome. However this can be corrected by becoming aware of the breathing and focusing back to breath in and out through the nose therefore helping to reduce the heart rate and calming the body.

We are conveniently located in Oakville, on Cross Avenue in Oakville, Ontario. The Bikram Studio is conveniently located across the street from the Go station and accessible from Trafalgar Road, Cornwall Road and Queen Elizabeth Highway. We have a variety of teacher on staff including regular scheduled teachers and visiting teachers in order to offer a variety of styles to our students.
